CPD Audit
Chartered Status, identified by your post-nominal CPEng, CEngT or CEngO, sends a clear message to others that you possess and maintain the competencies of professionalism, up-to-date expertise and risk management required for independent practice.
To maintain Chartered Status, you must complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which is subject to audit every five years.
Below you will find information about the audit process, and to the right are the forms, policies and other useful information you will need during an audit. If you have any queries, please email us at cpdaudit@engineersaustralia.org.au.
Audit Process
When selected for audit
You will receive a letter outlining:
- Documentation required
- Explanatory notes about the audit and CPD requirements
- The timeframe for responding
-
Advice about what you should do if you find difficulty in complying with the audit requirements and/or the timeframe.
Essentially, you will be requested to provide:
- A brief (2–3 pages) statement of experience, focusing on your area(s) of practice and responsibilities over the last three years**
- A list of your CPD activities undertaken during the last three years** (an online CPD recording system, eCPDRecord , is now available through the members only section of this website, where you can record your CPD as you undertake each activity.
-
A completed and signed Audit Response Cover Sheet.
If you do not wish to undergo an audit, and you opt to relinquish your Chartered status post-nominal or use a qualified Chartered status post-nominal, use the Relinquish Chartered Status - Post Nominals Information form.
When you return your audit submission
Upon receipt of your audit response, a preliminary assessment will be made.
The response will then be forwarded to a reviewer, who is a Chartered member qualified in the relevant area of practice. The reviewer will report back to Engineers Australia with a satisfactory or unsatisfactory outcome and any comments, which will be forwarded to you.
The assessment by your peers takes time, but, as a guide, we aim to advise you of the outcome of your audit within two months of receipt of your audit response.
*Over the last five years if on, or returning from, a career break. Details of the career break must be included within the submitted statement of experience.
*Special provisions may apply for those working part-time (up to 20 hours per week). See Clause 3.4 of the Continuing Professional Development Policy for details.
