Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference series

The NCCOE biennial Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference series is the premier technical forum for engineers and allied scientists in the Australasian region interested in the coastal and ocean zone. It provides an opportunity for exchange and interaction within the marine science and ecology community. It also allows us to update the wider coastal and ocean engineering community on our various activities and for members to make direct contact and exchange useful ideas.

Authors can request that an editorial panel reviews technical papers they submit. Any paper is eligible for the NCCOE Doug Foster Memorial Fellowship, the Kevin Stark Memorial Award and the PIANC Young Author's Award. Papers will not be accepted if the author does not register for the conference.

History of Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference series

The biennial Australasian Coastal and Ocean Engineering Conference series started in 1973 and is conducted and organised by the NCCOE, with the assistance of local Engineers Australia volunteer committees. This series was joined with the Australasian Ports and Harbours Conference in 1995, which is sponsored by PIANC Australia - the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses, based in Brussels.

Reflecting the broad regional coverage of the conference series, it is traditionally shared with the IPENZ Coastal Society in New Zealand to provide greater access for South East Pacific nations. The conference alternates with the ASCE-sponsored International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE) that is held in even-numbered years.

Conference Planning

A lot of thought goes into planning the NCCOE conferences to ensure the delivery of services and value for money. Members also attend related conferences wherever possible and report to the Committee on national and international coastal and ocean issues and developments. Technical short courses are often held in conjunction with a conference.
