Engineers Australia Retirement Intentions Survey
Engineers Australia is the national forum for the advancement of engineering and for the professional development of its members. This role is informed by statistical information about the numbers of engineers in the engineering profession, new entrants to the engineering profession from Australian Universities and TAFE Colleges, and new entrants to the engineering profession from the migration of engineers to Australia and the retirement of engineers from engineering and/or engineering related positions. Much of this information is contained in the research publication - The Engineering Profession: A Statistical Overview. However, a key gap in information concerns the retirement of engineers.
The results of the survey will allow the development of a more complete perspective of the engineering profession and allow us to better represent the needs of the profession to government and industry.
The survey is organised to reflect the current employment circumstances of members. This means that respondents only need to answer a common set of background questions and a set of questions relating to their current employment situation. The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and is open until Friday 12 February 2010.

Apologies for Access Issues Engineers Australia would like to offer an apology to members who had difficulties accessing the survey. A high response rate has caused access issues for the survey. This situation highlighted that our current survey provider has difficulties handling high traffic situations. It is a number of years since we have surveyed the entire membership and this problem was not anticipated. The survey has been live and accepting responses for over a week with no access difficulties reported. It seems that our email inviting members to complete the survey has prompted such a large level of activity that the software was unable to cope. We have now changed survey providers and the online survey is able to handle high traffic volumes. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and hope that you will still be willing to complete the survey before the extended closing date of Friday 19 February 2010. If you have managed to successfully complete the survey your responses have been recorded. There is no need to reenter your comments.

Links not working! While my previous post was directed at the link in the e-mail sent out to members, the link does not even work from within this web-site! NOT impressed.

Links not working! I agree with Mr Turner. It reflects poorly on the ability of the profession to make things happen and happen correctly, if our professional body can't even test a link thoroughly to make sure it works. Like a billion other people, I'm using IE7, which is hardly an obscure web browser.
