With high demand for engineering graduates, the need to boost student engagement and capacity in science and maths subjects has been identified as a national priority crucial to Australia's future. The retiring population and low numbers of students entering engineering degrees has created a skills shortage across many sectors in Australia.
To celebrate Engineering Week 2010, QUT and Engineers Australia are holding a one day program custom designed for high schools students interested in engineering.
The ‘Engineering Eclipse' will take place on Tuesday 3 August and will include engineering tours, special guest speakers and a panel discussion. The tour is being organised to showcase - QUT Gardens Point campus and our new engineering workshops, plus aviation facilities located inside the Brisbane Airport precinct - Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation (AARCA) Research, Aviation Australia and Boeing Flight Simulation centre. The engineering panel will provide an opportunity to listen and discuss current hot topics in engineering, science and technology.
