The Maritime Operations Support division of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service relies on talented, highly skilled team members to underpin operations that protect national interests in our maritime domain. Reporting to the Director ACV Project you will be responsible for providing engineering advice and managing the development of the equipment/systems and logistics related functional specifications for the replacement of Customs and Border Protection control vessels.
The focus for the coming year is the replacement of the Australian Customs Vessels and you will provide engineering advice, leadership and direction to the Project. You will provide advice and contribute to the development of project engineering plans including plans for the equipment/systems of the new vessels, participating and providing direction in engineering studies and evaluation of platform, systems and equipment design and concept.
Liaison with government agencies and providing engineering briefs and advice to the senior executive, management and external agencies is also part of your portfolio. You will manage the creation and facilitation of transition plans to assist in the smooth introduction into service of the new vessels.
It is desirable that the successful applicant will hold tertiary qualifications in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Naval architecture and have 3+ years of experience. The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience in regulatory and statutory requirements related to commercial ship design and operations. Secret clearance is essential. Merchant Marine or Naval service will prove advantageous
