State President

David Eltringham, FIEAust CPEng

Congratulations to Mr David Eltringham FIEAust CPEng who has been elected the 2010 Victoria Division State President.

Living and working in regional Victoria, David is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, Victoria Division, and has been an office bearer of various regional groups for many years. His most recent office bearer positions were as a member of the National Regional Groups Taskforce, Regional Groups Representative on the Victoria Division Committee for the past six years and Senior Vice President 2009.

David has been involved in Local Government for over 38 years and prior to his Local Government roles was employed by the then Country Roads Board.

He has experience in engineering operations, design and major projects across many municipalities and is currently the General Manager Technical Services, at the Horsham Rural City Council.

David has spent most of his working career in regional Victoria and so has a strong
understanding of issues affecting regional engineers and a keen willingness to continue to develop the relationships between regional engineers and their city counterparts.

In his term as State President, David also hopes to continue to strengthen and promote the relevance of membership of Engineers Australia and celebrate the Year of Engineering Leadership by exploring the history of our profession, paying particular attention to the achievements of Sir John Monash and other notable engineering leaders in Victoria.

Also, with Victoria's successful recruitment and retention of Engineers as members of
Engineers Australia, there will be a focus to ensure that all members, particularly young engineers, are engaged in Division activities.

A Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program of activities will also be pursued by David to promote the opportunities for the sharing of knowledge and experience between metropolitan and regional presenters, particularly on significant projects undertaken by members.

During his term, David is also aiming to have closer ties between the Victoria Division
Committee and special interest groups, including, IPWEA .

The State President can be contacted via the Division Office on 03 9329 8188 or vicpresident@engineersaustralia.org.au
