Our award programs seek to identify, recognise and reward outstanding achievement, eminence in the practice of engineering, and conspicuous service to the profession.

A free photographic exhibition showcasing the best of Victorian Engineering will form the pinnacle event for Victorian Engineering Industry Week in 2009.
The exhibition will be a stunning showcase of over 65 winners and entrants of the Victorian Engineering Excellence Awards 2009.
This free public event will be held from Monday 21 to 25 September at Atrium, Federation Square. No registration is required for this event.

Young Professional Engineer of the Year Announced
The winner of the 2009 Young Professional Engineer Award, has been announced and presented at the Engineers Australia, Victoria Division’s Engineering Excellence Awards Presentation Dinner on Thursday, 17 September at the Palladium Ballroom at Crown.
Ms Alesha Printz won the award and was presented with a cash prize of $3000 for having demonstrated a high level of competence and significant achievement in engineering and community affairs. She is now eligible for the National Young Professional Engineer Award 2009.
Alesha has excelled in her role as Project Manager, Pipelines at FutureFlow Alliance. Her well rounded and diverse engineering and community experience, along with her demonstrated leadership capability and her commitment to professional and community contribution were defining factors in the judges’ decision.
The Award, proudly supported by VicRoads, acknowledges and rewards young engineering professionals who have realised competence and significant achievement in community affairs; a demonstrated understanding of the role and purpose of the engineering profession in society; proficiency in the use of communication skills in engineering projects; and effective communication with public media.
Mr Peter Godfrey, National President, Engineers Australia said “The Awards are an important vehicle through which we can promote the profession and topical engineering issues to the community through the achievements of our young engineers.”
Alesha’s commitment to the profession is undeniable, she is an active participant in a number of volunteer programs and is the current Victorian Chapter Chair of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). EWB works with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through education and the implementation of sustainable engineering projects.
A Highly Commended Award of $1500 was also presented to Mr David Gloag, Design Engineer and Project Manager with Sinclair Knight Merz who also displayed a significant level of engineering proficiency and industry achievement.
Judges were impressed with the breadth of David’s engineering achievements to date and in particular his ability to develop community appropriate solutions suitable to Southeast Asian conditions.

NHP continues to encourage Australia’s youth in the engineering profession, with its joint sponsorship with Engineers Australia and Electrical Energy Society Australia of the Engineers Australia Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award.
This award has been initiated to encourage excellence and innovation in the field of Electrical power engineering. By encouraging young graduates to strive for a rewarding, long term career in Electrical power engineering it redresses the current trend of personnel shortages in this area.
The award will honour a professional engineer who has made significant contributions in the practice of electrical power engineering and demonstrated individual contribution to the community. In acknowledgment to younger practitioners, these contributions will have been made during the preceding four years.
