Construction Induction Training

CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry

As at 1 July 2008, all people performing construction work require proof that they have completed the mandatory course, Work Safely in the Construction Industry (CI) which is recognised nationally and meets the condition of the OH&S regulations 2007 for the requirement of workers to be registered.

This is a formally recognised course developed to meet WorkSafe Victoria's responsibilities as the legislative authority for administering the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and the occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007.

A specially designed course for Engineers and other professional:

Most engineers and other professionals generally visit construction sites to inspect, observe or to supervise, rather than being workers engaged in construction or associated tasks. Hence there was a strong need to develop a course that was targeted specifically to professionals.

What this course covers:

The course is required to cover:

  • The Occupational Health & Safety Legislative framework
  • Hazards
  • Construction Industry knowledge
  • Accidents and incidents
  • Site safety

What you will learn:

After completing this course participants will have a basic knowledge of OHS legislative requirements, particularly as they pertain to your roles and responsibilities as a professional involved in the construction industry. Participants will also have a good understanding of the main hazards in the construction industry and the common principles of risk control.

Proof of Training (Nationally recognised):

Upon completion of this training course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment as proof of training for the purpose of gaining access to construction sites for a period of 60 days only. Following this, a nationally recognised ‘Construction Induction (CI) Card' will be issued by WorkSafe Victoria and must be carried onto site at all times.

Construction Induction Training will be offered on the following dates in 2010:

  • Friday, 13 August 2010
