The 2010 Awards Dinner was held on Friday May 21 in the upstairs function room of the Matilda Bay Restaurant located at the edge of the Swan River, Crawley, close to the Perth CBD. About 140 persons attended and the guest list included a Who's Who of electrical engineering in Western Australia!

Corporate sponsorship ensured the event would be a success, and it was appreciated that the following major businesses took tables in their name:

The MC was Mr Alan Coote of Tasmania Division,

and a welcome to Perth was provided by WA Division representative Ms Tiina-Maija Ratamo (below).

Prof Mike Brisk then provided an interesting talk about the history of the National Committee on Automation Control & Instrumentation (NCACI) and launched a booklet on this subject.

and this was followed by the Chairman of the NCACI Brandon Lee, and then also the Chairman of the National Committee on Space Engineering Mark Blair presenting Undergraduate Thesis Prizes to students

Presentation of the Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year award followed.

Mr Andrew Theodore of major sponsor NHP Electrical Engineering Products introduced the prize, then Dr Robert Barr, National President EESA (also a sponsor) presented the certificate and medal to Mr Blake Harvey GradIEAust of Ergon Energy QLD.

To conclude, it was a wonderful evening for prize winners and all attending, well supported by the excellent venue which has beautiful views over the Swan River toward the Perth CBD.

The evening would not have been a success without members making the effort to nominate highly regarded fellow members for the various prizes - and this highlights the importance of members giving serious consideration to nominating members who they know are high achievers.

Additional information about the major prizes can be found under the section of this site specifically dealing with each of the prizes, and nomination forms and requirements are also provided.
