2011 - Miss Annie Tchung MIEAust

The Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award was awarded to Miss Annie Tchung MIEAust. Annie holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) Hons and a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Masters in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering from Monash University. In the six years following her graduation, Annie has been employed by Jemena in the Asset Management and Infrastructure Services Area as a Protection and Control Design Engineer. Annie has not only excelled in her current workplace, contributing significantly to various projects; protection relay replacement at 66kV Essendon Zone Substation and the upgrade of voice frequency protection signaling equipment at Broadmedows Substation, to name a few, but is also heavily involved in the community, voicing a strong desire to mentor and guide other young engineers to excel in their careers.

2009 - Blake Harvey
The practical, theoretical and community achievements of 26 year-old professional electrical engineer Blake Harvey of Rockhampton, Queensland, have been rewarded by his selection as Engineers Australia’s Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year 2009. He graduated
from the Central Queensland University (CQU) in 2005 with a first class honours degree.
Blake’s contributions also go well beyond Australia. He was co-founder of the Central Queensland chapter of Engineers Without Borders, and he has begun working with Rural Integrated Development Services in Nepal, providing technical assistance to aid the development of rural electrification to villages in the Himalayas.
Blake is a young engineer who is passionate about his work and the future and says,” I wish to champion the development and expansion of electrical power engineering through the trial and adoption of alternative solutions, techniques and technologies, and to expand the boundaries of the industry as a whole.
2008 - Felicity Galluzzo
Felicity Galluzzo from Melbourne was the winner of the 2008 Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award.

As part of her prize, NHP has awarded Felicity an overseas trip in recognition of Felicity's achievements and high quality application submission. The trip included visiting the Nuremberg Electrical & Automation Fair in Germany in November of 2008, and several electrical technology companies in Europe and Kuala Lumpur over a 2 week duration.

2006 - Ian Nathan Kennedy
The winner for the 2006 Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award was Ian Nathan Kennedy who graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (Hons) in Dec 2001. He studied under a Co-op Scholarship and was awarded the Tyree Holdings Prize for excellence in Power Projects in 1999.
Since graduation he has worked with RailCorp (formerly Rail Infrastructure Corporation) and was involved in Dynamic Load Flow Modeling for the Traction System Upgrade Project; augmenting the DC and HV AC networks that supports the Sydney Metropolitan Rail system to accommodate the growth in load of rolling stock and the additional track infrastructure, up to the year 2016. He consulted with overseas experts from the UK to develop the complex and extensive modeling for the electrical traction network.
Ian's ambition is to first enhance his engineering skills before taking on a leading role to positively influence the world around him.
2005 - Geordie Mitchell
Geordie Mitchell is the winner of the inaugural Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award for 2005.
NHP, together with Engineers Australia's Electrical College, and the Electrical Energy Society of Australia, have sponsored the inaugural award.
The award recognises individual excellence in the field of electrical power engineering within six years of graduation.
Successfully pursuing a career in the electrical power supply industry since his graduation in 2001, Geordie has been a consultant engineer and software technical manager in the power transmission sector for over five years.
