Join Philipa Stone and Ruwan Bell, subject matter experts in sustainability and climate action at BlueScope as they discuss approaches to sustainability and climate action, including BlueScope’s decarbonisation pathway in Australia.

The session will include insights on future iron and steelmaking technologies and commercialisation timelines, and the importance of value chain collaboration. Ruwan Brell
Manager Carbon Reduction, BlueScope

Ruwan Brell has a B.Eng (Chemical) from University of New South Wales, and has been working for BlueScope over the past 16 years in various production and engineering roles.

Ruwan currently works as part of BlueScope’s Future Technology team, with a particular focus on the decarbonisation of BlueScope’s iron and steelmaking assets globally. Ruwan is currently leading BlueScope’s technology development program for iron and steelmaking decarbonisation, collaborating with research, mining and steelmaking partners to accelerate BlueScope’s decarbonisation efforts.

Sustainability Manager, BlueScope

Philippa (Pip) Stone is responsible for BlueScope’s Australian sustainability strategy, with a focus on product sustainability and industry engagement. Prior to working at BlueScope, Pip led the sustainability strategy of global construction specialist, ISG and was based in London for 12 years. Pip is a Board Director of EPD Australasia, sits on the Green Building Council of Australia’s Responsible Products Advisory Group and the Infrastructure Sustainability Council’s Sustainable Materials Technical Working Group. 

Pip has a B. Liberal Studies from the University of Sydney and a Post Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge. She is a Practitioner Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
