Our three speakers are eminent in the disciplines associated with piling design and implementation.Rod Simpson, Managing Director of GFWA will introduce the topic speaking on piling techniques commonly in use in Perth and Western Australia – with project examples illustrating operational difficulties and risks. Eric Hudson Smith, Geotechnical Manager for the Public Transport Authority will speak on the foundations of the City Link Rail Alliance linking the Fremantle line between Perth and Northbridge. Peter Airey, Managing Director of Airey Taylor Consulting, will speak on a novel piling foundation design addressing the issues of theatre submersion, potential acid sulphate soils and stability of neighbouring heritage structures.
