Engineering Leadership in Industry : Presentation and Networking Event

The Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management (CELM) and Young Engineers Australia (YEA) have teamed up to host a series of four thought-provoking seminars.  The final seminar in the lead-up to the Engineering Leadership Conference 2012 aligns itself with the conference sub-theme ‘Engineering Leadership in Industry’. This seminar will focus on the exceptional communication required to encourage change. Participants will hear from a panel of varied backgrounds on tips for recognising an opportunity for change, strategies to implement change, how to influence and motivate others to drive change beyond their immediate workgroup and how to evaluate the success of the change.

 

Panelist One: Dr Bronwyn Evans FIEAust EngExec, Senior Vice President, Cochlear Ltd

Dr Bronwyn Evans FIEAust EngExec is Senior Vice President, Quality, Clinical and Regulatory, with Cochlear Limited reporting to the CEO. In this role she has responsibility for developing and executing the business product design and manufacturing regulatory framework.

Bronwyn is an independent non-executive director of John Holland Limited, the Chair of the Medical Technology Association of Australia Board and Chair of the National Board of the CELM. She has also been appointed to the Federal Government Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council. In 2011 Bronwyn joined The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering as a director.

Bronwyn spent 7 years at GE Healthcare in a range of leadership positions, including 2 years as the Asia Service Manager, Ultrasound based in Singapore. Prior to joining GE, Dr Evans completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering at University of Wollongong in the field of industrial automation. She also spent 7 years as an engineer with the NSW Electricity Commission.

Dr Evans is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers Australia, and in 2007 was recognised as one of Australia’s 25 Most Influential Women Engineers by Engineers Australia. In 2010 Bronwyn was an Ambassador for the Engineers Australia Year of Engineering Leadership. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Panelist Two: Brenton Scroop, General Manager, Panurgem

Brenton Scroop is General Manager of Project Management Consulting firm Panurgem Pty Ltd.  Panurgem is part of the Nova Group of Companies.

Brenton is a Member of the Australian Institute of Project Management and a Certified Practising Project Manager (CPPM).  As a leader of people Brenton is an accomplished professional and has over 20 years of management experience. Previously, a Chair of an Innovation and Change Council, and regional health service Board – change and strategy are accepted as key aspects to project and business success.

Brenton holds a certificate in Management, a Graduate Diploma in Project Management, a Certificate in Building and Planning and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Risk Management Institute of Australasia.

 

Panelist Three: Kym Williams, Managing Director, BRS

Kym Williams has developed extensive knowledge of the infrastructure industry through his previous role as the General Manager for an infrastructure and engineering services firm as well as holding previous roles in local government in the area of contracted and operational services.  

In 2009 Kym established BRS (formerly Business and Risk Solutions), operating as Managing Director.  BRS is a fast-growing SA-owned consulting firm, specialising in improving the performance, saving money, managing risk and the development of the people element of their clients' businesses.

Key client industries of Infrastructure, Government and Mining are more specifically provided with services in relationship contract coaching and collaboration services, business improvement and strategic planning development, project management, commercial services, risk management and solutions around cultural, leadership and team development.
