The Peel Regional group invites you to join them to meet the WA Division President, Barry Tonkin and discuss the activities planned during 2012 Year of the Regional Engineering Team. We will explore the challenging area of Fly-in, Fly-out resources.
Western Australia has a thriving mining industry that employs many people including members of the engineering team. Due to the remote location of the majority of these facilities and the desire of families to live in the south of the state, fly-in, fly-out provisions have been made for many of the mining industry workforce.
The fly-in, fly-out working practice creates a number of issues for the individual, their family and communities. For the professional engineer there are additional challenges with support, coaching and continued professional development being limited. Barry will explore some of these issues as he has observed and experienced in his career.
