Abstract:  The presentation will provide an overview of ongoing developments in the field of Multi-disciplinary Optimization and introduce the variety of approaches and methods available to solve such classes of problems. The second part of the presentation will focus on state of the art algorithms that are being developed within the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) Group with examples spanning across multiple domains. BIO:  Dr Tapabrata Ray is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Engineering and Information Technology, University of New South Wales, Canberra and the Founding Leader of the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Group. He obtained his Bachelors, Masters and PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Since his PhD, he has worked in various capacities with three major research institutes in Singapore namely Information Technology Institute, Institute of High Performance Computing and Temasek Labs at National University of Singapore before moving over to UNSW. He has authored well over 100 peer reviewed articles in the field of design and optimization and has held visiting appointments with University of Birmingham, U.K, University of Warwick, UK and the National University of Singapore.
