IPSWICH REGIONAL GROUP - SITE TOUR

The Ipswich Regional Group are to host a site tour of the Gateway Bridge.

Date: Tuesday 15 May 2012

Time: 1:30pm for a 2pm start - 4.00pm

Directions:
If coming from the city via Morningside and Lytton Road; turn left into Administration Road which leads into the newly constructed Queensport Rocks Park. Administration Road is just before the northern onramp to the Gateway Motorway from Lytton Road. If the entrance is missed, proceed east and make a U turn at the third set of lights at Paringa Parade and then come back to Administration Road.

If coming along the Logan Motorway and then the Gateway Motorway;  (which is possibly the best way to come from the west); exit to the east on the Port Road and then take a sharp left towards Lytton Road. From Lytton Road head west over the top of the Gateway Motorway and then right into Administration Road.

Meeting point on site: The meeting place is under the bridge near the southern abutments, at the end of Admin Road which is about 800m or so from Lytton Road. There is a car park there and the host will be waiting to issue the PPE and provide a short induction prior to the tour.

Tour details: Group will spend a short period under the approach spans and near the river bank to view and discuss the overall structure, structural arrangement, site conditions, foundations etc. This will be followed by a walk inside the box girder cavity . The walk ( about 600m each way) starts at the southern abutment and reaches the midspan point of the main river 260m span.

Group will be stopping along the way at various locations to discuss design and construction aspects of the match cast segmental portion of the approach spans and the insitu balanced cantilever main spans. Other points of interest will be the modular expansion joints, bearings, durability aspects and the 300 year design life of the structure.

PPE required: The host (QML) can supply vests, hard hats and safety glasses for attendees. Attendees are required to wear closed in shoes (sand shoes are not allowed).

REGISTRATION: Please use the RED REGISTRATION BUTTON above. Places are limited  to a 15 attendees.
