About Breakwater Road

Breakwater Road is a major crossing of the Barwon River, carrying 20,000 vehicles each day. The realignment is a 1.3 km long project starting at the Barwon Heads Road and linking directly to Fellmongers Road, Breakwater.

The $63 million project includes a new bridge which will span the Barwon River and Geelong-Warrnambool rail line. The new bridge will reduce flood impacts on road users and also remove the height restriction for vehicles using the Barwon River crossing.
