Defence of Darwin Experience site visit for Engineers Australia members.

Step into the Defence of Darwin Experience, the first facility in Australia to provide you, the visitor with an immersive, interactive, multimedia experience which extends beyond the physical walls of the precinct 'hub'.

The Defence of Darwin has been developed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin and to foster an increased awareness of the bombing of Darwin and the Territory's involvement in World War II (WWII).  The facility is expected to be a significant boon to the arts and culture sector in the Territory and overall enhance the Territory's tourism appeal.

This new $10 million Defence of Darwin Experience is the story of Darwin's role in WWII and is dedicated to the period 1932 to 1945 - a very important time in Territory history.  The Defence of Darwin Experience will provide an opportunity for visitors to understand the impact of the war on Darwin and its inhabitants, both civilian and military, through iconic objects from that time, images, firsthand accounts and multimedia presentations.

During World War II many civilians and service personnel fought, died, or were dispossessed.  The Defence of Darwin Experience acknowledges the sacrifice of those who lost their lives, and the courage of all who served in the defence of the Northern Territory.
