LEARNING WORKSHOPS ON STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

This series of workshops will be conducted by experienced engineers to cover areas such as understanding the client’s brief, evolution of various structural schemes, development of design with all major/key structural components and communication of design intent etc on the following topics and dates:

Autumn 2012 Schedule:

Workshop 1 – 15March & 12 April: Dr Rob Heywoodon “Prestressed Concrete”– venue at KBR (to be confirmed)

Workshop 2 – 22March & 19April: Dr Sean Bradyon “Forensic Engineering” – venue at PB (to be confirmed)

Workshop 3 – 29March& 26 April: Rob Blighon “Engineering of Architect Designed Houses” – venue at AECOM (to be confirmed)

Times: Each session is envisaged to run from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm

The format of each topic would be a 2-hour formal lecture in the first session followed by a 2-hour group discussion and presentation in the second.  It is expected that the attendees will form into groups to spend at least 8-hours working on an assignment prior to the second session.

Each workshop topic has a cost of $100 to cover lecture materials, attendance, some snacks during each session and a completion certificate for your CPD.

While the workshops are targeted at younger engineers, they will be of interest to anyone seeking to broaden their experience.  To take part please send an email to David Donnan at david.donnan@arup.com by close of business Monday 27 February 2012.  

A REGISTRATION FORM will be forwarded when the enquiry is received and a place is free.  Space is limited and acceptance is based on a 'first come first served' basis.

Full payment must be received by the 5 March 2012 or the place will be offered to the next on the waiting list.
