Technical Groups

Who are the BOE?

The Board of Engineering (BOE) is made up of representatives from all Engineers Australia, Victoria Division groups, including:

  • College Branches (e.g. Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Mechanical)
  • Technical Societies
  • Special Interest Groups (e.g. YEA-V, Women in Engineering)
  • Regional Groups
  • National Committee Panels

Individual groups run their own events, some of which are listed on this page. The BOE enables knowledge sharing between the various groups and also promotes education and career progression through the Professional Development Program.

Universities - Campus Coordinators

Campus coordinators are the young ambassadors of Engineers Australia. The Campus Coordinator Program is an initiative of Engineers Australia and the Young Engineers Australia (YEA) committee. The program aims to enrich communications on campus between students, YEA, engineering educators, the profession and Engineers Australia. The program also increases the ability for universities to become more valued by providing career guidance to their engineering students and by becoming a gateway to professional development services outside the education institutions.

Schools Programs

Engineers in Schools Program

The Engineers in Schools program links up engineers with schools in Victoria. A volunteer will usually visit a school and make a presentation to a group of students about engineering and their experiences as an engineer. The program is flexible and allows volunteers to visit schools located near their work place or home. Many members have expressed that they become involved in this program as they hoped to inspire high school students to consider a career in engineering.

Primary School Engineering Workshop

Victoria University’s Les Nakonieczny, John Chlond and YEA-V Vice-Chair, Phillip Vrettakis, with students from St. Andrews Primary School. When Victoria University’s Electrical Engineering lecturer John Chlond asked me to assist with a workshop for my old primary school, St. Andrews in  Werribee – I eagerly accepted the opportunity. Twelve enthusiastic students were given the chance to build an FM transmitter in kit form – this was similar in complexity to my first year university lab work!

EngQuest Primary School Visits

YEA-V committee members have made several visits to primary schools as part of the EngQuest program. These visits are fun and informative for the schools kids and engineers alike!
