Professional Engineers

NPER is the main vehicle for the registration of professional engineers in Australia. It is widely recognised by Local Authorities and some State and Territory Governments and it has been included in regulations relating to the design, certification, health and safety of buildings and building services.

The requisite qualification for NPER is a four-year engineering qualification accredited by Engineers Australia or equivalent.

Applicants must also demonstrate that they are practising competently in the area of practice where they are applying for registration.

The required standard for competency is published as the Stage 2 Australian Engineering Competency Standards . However, most applicants will not need to refer to the primary document, as sufficient information is available from subordinate documents prepared to support the application process.

Obviously, evidence for the requisite generic competencies must be based on work in the area of practice where registration is required.

Subordinate documents designed for your purposes are available on this site. To help you obtain the correct information, please select one of the following by clicking "Yes":

1.Are you already registered on NPER in another area? Yes

4.If you are not a member of Engineers Australia, do you wish to join? Yes
5. Do you wish to register on NPER without joining Engineers Australia? Yes

Note:
The same standards and processes are applied whether or not an applicant chooses to join Engineers Australia.
