A general area of practice of Building Services Engineering has been established to distinguish professional engineers competent in the practice of Building Services Engineering. The area also facilitates the recognition of Chartered Members of Engineers Australia applying for dual membership under the Heads of Agreement with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
Management of the general area of practice of Building Services Engineering is the responsibility of a competency panel comprising representatives of Engineers Australia's Society of Building Services Engineering (SBSE), (CIBSE) Electrical College and the and Mechanical College.
Assessment of applications is the responsibility of a similarly representative assessment panel, established by the Institution and CIBSE comprising experienced Building Services Engineers.
