Mr Mike Marley was elected in May 2007 as Chairman of the National Engienering Registration Board to serve a second two-year term.
In line with the co-regulatory approach taken between professional engineering bodies and the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ), a new registration scheme was introduced in Queensland from 1 July 2008.
Under the new scheme, professional engineering bodies were invited to apply to the BPEQ for approval of a scheme to assess requirements for registration in approved areas of engineering. The Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology appointed Engineers Australia and the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) as Assessment Entities.
From 1 July 2008, a successful assessment of qualifications and competencies is required before an application is lodged with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland for registration as a registered professional engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). Engineers
