Audit

Audit Requirements

Engineers Australia conducts audits of registered practitioners, normally once every five years. Those selected (respondents) are asked to provide records of their CPD activities and a statement of experience in their area of practice during the preceding three years.

Practitioners selected for audit will be notified by letter, advised of what is required, the timeframe for response, and provided with explanatory information about the audit and CPD requirements, to assist them in responding. They will also be given advice about what to do should they find difficulty in complying with the audit request and/or timeframe. Essentially, they will be asked to provide the following information for the most recent three years:

Statement of Work Experience

Respondents must submit a brief (2-3 pages) statement of work experience, focussing on their area(s) of practice and responsibilities over the last three years, including:

CPD Record Sheet

Respondents must submit a record of the CPD activities undertaken during the last three years. A CPD record sheet, in the preferred format will be provided, or an electronic version can be downloaded from the website. Detailed information about CPD is available from the Guidelines page, and includes:

Audit Review Process

Upon receipt of an audit response, a preliminary assessment is made, including for completeness of documentation. The response is then forwarded to a reviewer, who is a Chartered or Registered engineer qualified in the relevant area of practice. The reviewer reports back to Engineers Australia with a satisfactory or unsatisfactory outcome and any comments. This outcome is then conveyed to the respondent concerned. This assessment by your peers will take some time, but, as a guide, we aim to advise you of the outcome of your audit within two months of receipt of your audit response.

Appeals

An Appeals Procedure is available to persons who contest their audit outcome.

Submission of Audit Response

Two copies of completed audit responses are required. One copy is sent to the external audit reviewer and the second is retained on respondents' files.
