NEAR
If you are applying for registration on the National Engineering Associates Register (NEAR), this page is for you.
NEAR is the main vehicle for the registration of Engineering Associates in Australia.
The requisite qualification for NEAR is a TAFE Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree (2 years), accredited by Engineers Australia or equivalent.
Applicants must also demonstrate that they are practising competently in the area of practice where they are applying for registration. Instructions on how to prepare evidence that demonstrates competencies is in the Chartered Status Handbook.
The required standard for competency is published as the Stage 2 Australian Engineering Competency Standards. However, most applicants will not need to refer to the primary document, as sufficient information is available from subordinate documents prepared to support the application process.

Note:
There is currently no support from the National Engineering Registration Board for an applicant to choose not to join Engineers Australia.
