If you answered yes to the question, "If you are not a member of Engineers Australia, do you wish to join?" this page is for you. The page provides information on how to join Engineers Australia at the same time as applying for registration on NPER.
Registration on the National Professional Engineers Register (NPER) is available to individuals that have satisfied the Australian Engineering Competency Standards Stage 2 for Professional Engineers in their area of practice. The application process is designed to add value to individuals' practice skills by providing them an incentive to compile evidence for competency from their experience and to defend that evidence in front of their professional peers.
A Chartered Status Handbook is available online from Engineers Australia to guide your application, as the same process will also confer the status of Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) if it is completed successfully. The handbook explains how to compile your evidence, what will be the fees, where to send your application and who will be involved in the assessment. The handbook also gives the contact details of National Assessors who are prepared to discuss individual cases.
Note
Professional engineers who have qualified and practised in certain countries where their professional association has entered an agreement on mutual recognition with Engineers Australia may already qualify for registration. You should refer to information on Mutual Recognition Agreements on the web. If you are uncertain, please contact the Registrar.
