Members of Engineers Australia - not yet CPEng

If you answered "Yes" to the question "If you are not a CPEng, are you a member of Engineers Australia?" this page is for you, provided that you are a professional engineer. Specifically the page is for persons who have not yet successfully completed a competency-based assessment.

Registration on the National Professional Engineers Register (NPER) is available to individuals that have satisfied the Australian Engineering Competency Standards Stage 2 for Professional Engineers in their area of practice. The application process is designed to add value to individuals' practice skills by providing them an incentive to compile evidence for competency from their experience and to defend that evidence in front of their professional peers. You should apply for CPEng and NPER together.

A Chartered Status Handbook is available online from Engineers Australia to guide your application, as the same process will also confer the status of Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), if it is completed successfully. The handbook explains how to compile your evidence, what will be the fees, where to send your application and who will be involved in the assessment. The handbook also gives the contact details of National Assessors who are prepared to discuss individual cases.
