Humanitarian engineers profiled
The Year of Humanitarian Engineering has got off to a great start, with divisions holding launch events across Australia.
We are delighted to announce that 21 humanitarian engineers have their profiles published on Engineers Make it so. These engineers are sharing their stories with the community and helping to convey the diversity of humanitarian engineering.
If you are, or have been, involved in humanitarian engineering of any kind, submit your profile and help to inspire young people considering engineering as a profession.

Tasmanians launch Year of Humanitarian Engineering
Many divisions, colleges and societies are launching events to celebrate the Year of Humanitarian Engineering. Last Friday, the Tasmanian Division of Young Engineers (YEAT) attracted over 80 attendees to a breakfast, co-hosted by Engineers Australia.
Speakers included David Pointing - who talked about working in the humanitarian engineering sector and the importance and impact of humanitarian engineering - and Engineers Australia National President Merv Lindsay.

Stories from the field: Mark Brooking
The first in YEASA’s ‘Stories from the Field’ series features Mark Brooking.
Mark's dedication to humanitarian engineering has taken him to over 50 countries. He will share his experiences working in Egypt and Syria, the 1999 Kosovo war, the civil war in Sierra Leone and outline his work with the United Nations.

The Biomedical College Board has awarded Professor Alexander John McLean the 2010 David Dewhurst Award. The David Dewhurst Award is given annually to a professional biomedical engineer who has made a significant contribution to the discipline. The award honors Dr David Dewhurst, one of Australia's first prominent Biomedical Engineers. -
