2006 Engineering Excellence Award winners announced!

Winners of the 2006 Engineering Excellence Awards for Sydney Division were announced Friday night (Sept. 22) at a Gala Dinner and Presentation evening.

The Westlink M7 Motorway has been awarded the Bradfield Award, chosen from the winners of each of the 10 categories. The Bradfield Award recognises an accomplishment of exceptional engineering merit that benefits the community. Past winners of the Bradfield Award include Polartechnics SolarScan Melanoma Detection System and TransGrid and EnergyAustralia''''s Sydney CBD Electricity Augmentation project.

The judging criteria for the Bradfield Award is based on the following attributes: Benefits to the Community; Achievement of Customer Needs; Innovation; Environmental Impact; Sustainability; Engineering Challenge; Use of Sound Engineering Practices and Principles; Commercial Viability; Quality of the Work; and Credit to the Engineering Profession.

The Westlink M7 became a candidate for the Bradfield Award due to its outstanding success in the category judging.
