2007 Young Engineer of the Year Award!
On Friday, 7th September, at the Engineering Excellence Awards, Newcastle Division presented its 2007 Young Engineer of the Year Award.
The recipient was Mr Paul Reynolds GradIEAust, from RPC Technologies, Newcastle.
Paul’s citation for the Award read as follows:
Paul Reynolds is an exceptional engineer. At such a young age (of 26) he has proved himself to be both a top design engineer and an extremely competent Project Engineer and Manager. Paul is now the Contracts Manager for RPC Technologies Newcastle operation where he has the ultimate commercial responsibility for all Transport projects won by RPC which is in the order of $15 million annually.
Paul completed his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle University with first class honours in 2003. He was a UNISS scholar and worked with RPC during his years at University. In his last year of University he was given the responsibility of Lead Design Engineer for a team that were to design a lighting system for the new VLOCITY Passenger Railcars built by Bombardier and introduced into the Melbourne rail system in that year. His achievement in meeting the onerous design specifications were considered so good that the lighting system has since been included into the new PURD Passenger Railcars for Perth. Paul took on the Project Management for this project which had a budget of $14 million, all this in his first year as a graduate engineer.
Since then, Paul has been responsible for the technical and commercial success of a range of projects. He is unique to have this level of competence in both his technical and commercial knowledge and his ability to take on such critical roles at his age. He is Newcastle Divisions Young Engineer of the Year in 2007. Congratulations.
As the Newcastle Division''''s Young Engineers of the Year, Paul will go forward to the National competition.
