Alex Grant honoured with 2008 IREE Neville Thiele Award
The Information, Technology and Electronics Engineering College''''s 2008 IREE Neville Theile Award recipient is Professor Alex Grant, who comes from South Australia.
Alex is Professor of Information Theory and Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Research at the University of South Australia. He was a NICTA Fellow in 2004 and, at 32 years of age, was the youngest professorial appointment ever made at the University of South Australia.
The work of Alex Grant appears to the Judging Panel to most closely emulate that of Neville Thiele in achieving a highly impressive blend of theoretical and practical design and development. Moreover, the Foundation''''s Judging Panel agrees that Professor Grant’s work will have long-term benefits to society, not only in wireless communications but for other communication technologies that have the electromagnetic spectrum as the fundamental element in their operation.
The IREE Neville Thiele Award is awarded annually to a young engineer under the age of 41 and carries a significant prize of $10,000. Its aim is to recognise significant contributions to the art and practice of engineering in the ITEE disciplines, as well as demonstrated significant contributions to the community
The ITEE College wishes to thank all of the Neville Thiele Award nominees for their applications. Your time and effort is appreciated, and that of your referrees. You are most welcome to apply next year.
