CELM Opportunities for Leaders

CELM is the special interest group for Engineering Leaders.

CELM Sydney’s goal is to support and promote engineers to be leaders of business, innovation and change.

During the Year of Engineering Leadership, CELM Sydney is experiencing a period of growth and transformation, providing new opportunities for existing and emerging leaders.

Two ways to become involved -

  • A Committee Member: commitment is that of a board member. Responsible for preparing and attending meetings, jointly setting strategy and making decisions, performance and compliance, and getting the job done.
  • Sometimes a person cannot commit to attend the monthly meetings, but they would still like to participate. Friends of the CELM Committee volunteer on a project, a campaign, a subcommittee, as a mentor, or with the running an event for CELM.

Examples of opportunities where volunteers can exercise leadership:

  • Developing networks with other groups within EA
  • Developing networks with external organisations with aligned interests
  • Promoting engineering leadership
  • Growing member data base
  • Establishing financial sponsorships
  • Serving as a leader or member of a subcommittee
  • Mentoring other engineering leaders
  • Coordinating events
  • Developing website and social media.
  • Writing articles for publications.
