Engineers Australia Canberra Division host ACT Election Forum
Engineer's Australia Canberra Division hosted an ACT Election Forum focusing on ACT's Economic Infrastructure on 19 September 2012. Simon Corbell (Labor) discussed creating liveable places, managing demands on infrastructure and meeting new challenges. Zed Seselja (Liberal) spoke in detail of an Infrastructure Canberra plan with an independent Infrastructure Commissioner to provide impartial advice to Government. Both sides supported professional registration of engineers in order to promote public safety and sustainability.
Over the next couple of weeks a more detailed analysis of the issues will occur and an update will be posted in early October. Canberra Division President, Doug Mitchell, noted that we are still using the water, sewage and road infrastructure developed during the foundation of Canberra and that the decisions made in the next term of government are likely to affect the lifestyles and cost of living of Canberreans over the next 100 years.
