Geoffrey Wickham honoured with David Dewhurst Award
The College of Biomedical Engineering will honour Geoffrey Wickham, AO with its highest honour The David Dewhurst Award on Wednesday, 23 January in Sydney.
Geoff is recognised around the world as the developer who made the cardiac heart pacemaker viable within the human body. From the early 1960s through the 1980s, Geoff and his colleagues at Telectronics continued to improve pacemaker technology.
In 2000, Geoff was honoured with an Order of Australia (AO) "for service to the design of medical equipment, particularly in the development of the implantable cardiac pacemaker".
Members of both the medical and biomedical engineering fraternities will come together to assist the Biomedical Engineering College to recognise Geoff''''s achievements.
