Golder Associates Melbourne named Best Victorian Firm
Golder Associates Pty Ltd has recently celebrated winning a clutch of four category major awards in the BRW-St. George Client Choice Awards 2007.
The Golder Melbourne office of the engineering, mining and environmental service consultancy achieved special recognition at state-level, winning Best Victorian Firm. “We’re in the process of analysing the survey results in detail to see exactly what we’re doing right, so we can keep on doing it!” said Ric Bland, the current Melbourne office manager.
Golder was named Best Professional Services Firm of the Year (revenue $20-100 million), Best Consulting Engineering Firm (revenue $50-100 million), and Best West Australian Firm, in addition to its Victorian accolade.
Golder’s 2007 successes are built on those achieved in 2006. As noted in BRW Magazine, “This is the second year in a row that the company has dominated the awards. Last year, Golder won the awards for best large engineering firm and best medium professional services firm.”
Managing Director Darren Watt puts it down to staff understanding the clients’ businesses, the company’s technical specialisations and the communication staff have with clients. These characteristics were highlighted by BRW as being consistent with other winning companies, saying that clients “… have overwhelmingly stated that they love firms that offer highly specialised skills and are geographically close to their business.”
Doug Goad, immediate past Melbourne office manager says, “Our people have developed a great rapport with their clients, which has formed the basis for strong relationships. This has always been important to Golder, and I think is one reason we have tended to stay with our clients as their businesses have grown.”
The awards were made on the basis of an independent survey in which senior clients in corporations and government organisations were asked to rate Golder against a series of detailed criteria. These included: Innovation, Reliability, Managing expectations, Delivering on time, Communication during projects and Practical judgement.
Golder Associates Melbourne has worked on a number of high-profile projects recently, among them the six Green Star-rated Council House 2 in Melbourne that was chosen as one of ‘Australia’s seven engineering wonders’ by BRW magazine in April 2007. Golder provided environmental and geotechnical engineering services for the City of Melbourne.
Current projects include responsibility for the strategic and statutory town planning for Dandenong Eco-Industrial Park that will see the former Dandenong treatment plant transformed into an example of best-practice sustainable land use.
