Government inviting Research applications for National Security Program

Applications are now invited for support under the Australian Government Research Support for National Security program.  Previous calls for applications for this program have been conducted under the Research for Counter Terrorism title. However, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s National Security Statement delivered to Parliament on 4 December 2008, the program has been expanded to cover the broader national security environment.

The current call for applications seeks project proposals in three specific priority areas and studies in two broader areas with national security implications. The priority areas for project proposals are:

  • Stand-off Detection for Explosives;
  • Command and Control; and
  • Cyber Security.

The subject areas for studies are:

  • Climate Change, Resource and Energy Security; and
  • Transnational and Serious Organised Crime.

The call for applications closes on 5:00pm (AEST) on 2 October 2009.  Further information, including guidelines and the application form, is available at http://www.pmc.gov.au/nsst/research_support.cfm.
