Hawken Address Awards Dinner

The Hawken Address Awards Night is one of Engineers Australia's most prestigious events. This year, please join us in welcoming Professor Paul Greenfield AO, Vice Chancellor of the University of Queensland to deliver the address ‘Achieving Sustainability: Can We?'.

Whether it be related to global warming, to the current financial situation, to impending water shortages or to biodiversity and eco system health, the concept of sustainability is now in common usage. Professor Greenfield will discuss if this is a realistic goal or a sign-post pointing us in a particular direction and what the concept means for an increasingly urbanised world.

Other special features of the night include the much anticipated release of the publication Engineering Wonders of Queensland. This has been the year of ‘Looking forward. Looking back' for Engineers Australia and the publication focuses on major engineering projects in Queensland's 150 years.

The evening will also include the presentation of the Professional Engineer of the Year award, Eric Brier Memorial award and the 2009 inductees into the Queensland Engineering Hall of Fame.

We hope that you will join us for this special occasion.
