How can developing countries defend against tsunamis?
Engineering for Change reports the American Society of Mechanical Engineers has outlined Japan’s tsunami defences in an investigative article on tsunami evacuation.
But while Japan was unusually prepared for that kind of disaster—even if not for one of that magnitude—what should coastal communities in developing countries do to prepare for such a disaster?
They put the question to Ian Robertson, a structural design professor at the University of Hawaii.
