Mixing disciplines to solve desalination
Desalination has been around for a while, but not in a very efficient form. Tom Mayer, at Sandia National Laboratories, is trying to find a way to make it affordable and practical to communities who need drinking water worldwide. To do so, he’s using researchers from a wide variety of fields. One is trying to build a better electrodialysis membrane, another is looking into superior mineral recovery, and another at commercialisation.
