More women engineers the focus of campaign

Engineers Australia has designated 2007 the ‘Year of Women in Engineering’ as part of a longterm strategy to recruit and retain a greater number of women into the engineering profession.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign in Melbourne today, the National Deputy President of
Engineers Australia, Air-Vice Marshal Julie Hammer said, “Australia’s engineering sector needs
to recruit and retain women to help overcome the acknowledged severe skills shortage we are
experiencing in Australia.
