The need for nuclear in Armenia

new image

National Geographic has an interesting story on Armenia’s aged nuclear power station Metsamor. It is an early model that was built without primary containment structures, and it lies on some of the world’s most earthquake-prone terrain.

There are plans to replace it in 2016, but in the meantime, it provides 40% of this impoverished and landlocked country’s power.
