New Deputy President
Dr Marlene Kanga, a chemical engineer, will be the second female national president of Engineers Australia in its history, when she takes over the role from Prof David Hood in 2013.
The first female president was Air Vice-Marshal Dr Julie Hammer in 2008. Kanga will also be the first national president from Sydney since Martin Thomas in 1991.
Kanga was elected deputy president by the Institution's Congress last month in Canberra.
