Nine innovative projects designed for developing countries
Mechanical Engineering Magazine online has interviewed nine designers – including engineers – who have designed products for developing countries. They talk about how they developed their ideas and overcame hurdles.
Projects include a portable blood testing device, a home water filtration system, glasses with lenses that can be adjusted by adding or removing water from the space between two membranes, and a system that incinerates rubbish to provide heat for a communal kitchen.
