Opportunity for Leaders : Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management NSW
The NSW Board of the Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management is looking for experienced and emerging leaders to volunteer on our Board and as Friends of CELM.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop networks, achieve outcomes, develop new skills and experience, and contribute to your profession and to the community.
The goal of the Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management is to support and promote engineers to be leaders of business, innovation and change. The main target group for CELM is people aged 30 and over – who are already in positions of management and leadership, or who are emerging leaders.
We are going through a period of transformation and change, and we welcome new ideas and people with the enthusiasm and commitment to carry those out.
There are two ways to volunteer:
Board Members. Board meetings are held monthly in Chatswood at 4:30pm on the third Tuesday of the month. Board members are elected, and there is a selection and induction procedure. We aim for a small board of high calibre leaders. Board members are responsible for preparing and attending meetings, jointly setting strategy and making decisions, performance and compliance, and getting the job done.
For board composition, we are targeting a diversity of age, gender, industry, skills and experience.
Expectations of Board members: Board membership given the same level of professionalism and commitment as a professional board appointment. Members need to be able to attend the monthly CELM Meetings and need to have 10 hours per month available for CELM. Committee members have duties & responsibilities they are committed to and complete.
Qualities required: Good judgement. Professional with good integrity. Proactive and self motivated. Get the job done. Reliable. Bring ideas. Good team members. Open to feedback. Communicate well. Good English skills
Friends of CELM. Volunteering as a Friend of CELM is a flexible form of volunteering – which suits many who wish to network and to give service to their profession, but who cannot attend meetings. Friends of CELM participate in a range of activities – they run events, attend committee meetings, run our sponsorship programs, participate in our mentoring programs – and also participate in networking opportunities. We have a broad range of activities and initiatives, so there are a broad range of ways to volunteer as a Friend of CELM. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering this way.
