Queensland Floods - Message from the Queensland Division President
On behalf of Engineers Australia I would like to express my sympathy and support to all members, their families and the communities that have been impacted by the floods throughout Queensland.
To those in areas that are under threat of flood, our thoughts are also with you.
Organisations, such as Emergency Management Queensland and State and Local Governments, have a vast amount of expertise in disaster management and are leading the current emergency response and the future recovery efforts. Engineers Australia has offered our support and assistance to the relevant co-ordinating bodies and we will support any of their requests that we can to complement their official response strategies.
Many of our members have already, or soon will be, making their own personal contribution to addressing the impacts of the floods through their employers, involvement in community groups, or other avenues. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the ongoing united community effort.
In addition, many of our members have generously donated to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal or other appeals to support the communities that have been affected. Again, thank you to all members who have contributed to these appeals.
I would encourage all members who would like to make a contribution to any of the appeals to do so and support the many communities that have been impacted.
Sincerely
Dennis Wogan
President Queensland Division
