Rescue robots in disaster zones

new image

The first documented use of rescue robots was in 2001 following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. They were also used after Hurricane Katrina and there were also a few notable deployments reported in and around the Fukushima nuclear plant.

An interesting interview with Robin Murphy, director of Texas A&M University’s Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR), courtesy of ASME.
