Following on from our story earlier in the week entitled ‘Are we engineering an energy crisis? Hargreaves speaks at Forum’ (September 27), read an edited extract from Suzanne Cory’s National Press Club Address on September 28.

Suzanne Cory is President of the Australian Academy of Science. In her address she said she ‘believes our country’s scientific potential has never been greater. But our ability to improve this performance in the future, or even maintain it, is not assured.’

In her address she outlined the issues she sees as threatening our economic security and prosperity.
