Snowy Hydro Limited owns and operates the 3756 MW Snowy Mountains Scheme, the 300 MW Valley Power gas-fired power station, located in Victoria and Red Energy, an electricity retailer operating primarily in Victoria. In addition, Snowy Hydro Limited is currently constructing a 320 MW gas-fired power station in Laverton North, Victoria.

Snowy Hydro Limited is the National Electricity Market’s third largest generator by capacity and is a leading supplier of electricity price risk hedging contracts such as price caps and similar contracts to other retailers and generators in the National Electricity Market. We are mainland Australia’s largest renewable energy generator, accounting for more than 70% of renewable energy production in the mainland National Electricity Market.

Recent major projects include the new spillway, outlet works and tunnel at Jindabyne Dam which provide the capability of greater environmental flows in the Snowy River, new technology control and communication systems and upgrading the largest hydro power station in Australasia. High reliability of the massive assets is achieved through proactive quality maintenance, refurbishment and replacement ensuring responsiveness to the volatile prices in the national electricity market.
