Telecommunications infrastructure needs a plan

The Engineers Australia 2007 Telecommunications Infrastructure Report Card, released today, has identified the need for a comprehensive strategic plan and long-term vision at a national level for Australia’s telecommunications infrastructure.

The expected high concentration of telecommunications infrastructure in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane has led to a rating of a generally acceptable ‘B’ for both mobile and fixed infrastructure in those areas.

However, the ratings slip away to more concerning scores in many regions down to an ‘F’, including only poor ratings in some capital cities.
