Wingecarribee Shire's Future Infrastructure
On Thursday 27 October, the Engineers Australia Southern Highlands and Tablelands Regional Group was host to Jason Gordon, General Manager, Wingecarribee Shire Council, at their monthly Seminar Dinner attended by 35 members and guests.
Jason spoke on “Wingecarribee Infrastructure For Regional Growth and Development”, and his very polished and informative presentation highlighted how the Shire’s $1.6B extensive infra-structure and natural assets spread over some 2,700 square kilometres are being managed and developed to accommodate the projected growth in population (currently 46,000) and associated services with due regard for the environment and biodiversity. Of particular interest were the Community Strategic Plan and the longer term Wingecarribee 2031+ Plan incorporating the vision, aspirations, goals and challenges for our community over the next twenty years, including the ‘Tiny Towns’ concept, which are being developed through community consultation. We thank Jason for his excellent presentation, which is now posted on our website http://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/shtrg
